Upstate Granite Solutions on Highway 123 is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a celebration on Wednesday, November 18, that features the raising of the largest American flag and flagpole in South Carolina.

Company founder Paul Nichols, a U.S. Army veteran, is inviting the public to join him in honoring veterans at an event to be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Upstate Granite Solutions, 2840 New Easley Highway in Greenville. All veterans in attendance will be invited to help unfurl and raise the massive 50’ x 80’ American Flag. Veterans, active duty military and all first responders will be recognized.

Complimentary food, live music and family-friendly activities will be available before the dedication ceremony, according to company representatives.

A Greenville native, Nichols served in in the U.S. Army for five years as an armor officer. He returned to the Upstate in 2015 to open his own stone fabrication and installation company. The business that began on his back porch now has more than 20 employees.

After five years of hard work and accelerated company growth, Nichols is investing in a monument to honor his fellow veterans, and he wants it to be known as the largest Old Glory in the state.
