In August, U.S. News released its Best Places to Live in South Carolina in 2021-22 and Spartanburg ranked No. 1. Here’s some of what U.S News said about Hub City:
“With multiple institutions of higher learning and a burgeoning food scene, Spartanburg always offers things to do on the weekends. Locals can ride their bicycles around town, shop at farmers markets, check out festivals, or enjoy local restaurants and breweries. Spartanburg is a pet-friendly city, where it’s common to see locals walking their dogs downtown or sharing a meal on a restaurant patio with pets in tow.”
Easley Mill was a center of community life for almost a century. Thirty years after its looms and spindles were silenced, the four-story brick structure on South 5th Street was again buzzing with activity as tenants of the new Easley Mill Lofts began moving in this past August.
Last May, instant interviews and on-the-spot job offers were beginning to be the norm as the labor participation rate dropped across the Upstate as employers were searching for hundreds of workers.
Ed and Ysante McDowell first walked the aisle together at their wedding in 1999. Ten years later, they walked the aisle together again as graduates of Spartanburg Community College. The Chesnee couple now is moving quickly down the entrepreneurial aisle as the owners of Ed’s All Purpose Seasoning and Rub, LLC.
Sugar Tit, Possum Kingdom and Pumpkintown are just a few of the towns across the Upstate region of South Carolina with memorable names.
Livin’ Upstate users searching for things to do this holiday season found significant interest in the hundreds of thousands of holiday lights at Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland at Tryon Resort Winterfest.
Anglers and spectators were invited to Crappie USA’s 25th anniversary celebration at Lake Hartwell back in March. The event included a free Crappie Kids Fishing Rodeo.
