The Amazing Castle opens at Upcountry History Museum on Jan. 25

The Amazing Castle drops its drawbridge on Saturday, January 25, at the Upcountry History Museum in Greenville, welcoming visitors of all ages to a time of kings, queens, knights and dragons.

The interactive, bilingual (English and Spanish) exhibition showcases a 2,000-square-foot medieval community where visitors become inhabitants of the castle village, exploring life in a castle as they imaginatively transform themselves into different storybook characters.

Designed specifically for children ages two to 10, The Amazing Castle focuses on promoting literacy, inspiring imaginations and strengthening awareness of the value of cooperation and community.

Through a combination of exhibit design, storybook characters, hands-on activities, costumes and props, The Amazing Castle provides all the elements of creative learning. From the seamstress to the carpenter, the blacksmith to the court jester, or the cook to the dragon tamer, each character plays a special role in discovering the interconnectedness of this village life inspired by fantasy and history.

On display through May 10, 2020, The Amazing Castle is filled with opportunities for storytelling, problem-solving and inventive play. Its shared display areas are designed to support tangible life lessons of sharing, respecting and helping others, as well as how to work together, be responsible and believe in yourself.

The timeless lessons and multi-generational appeal of The Amazing Castle support adult-child engagement and a child’s growth in 21st-century skills to help lay a foundation for success in life, school and work.
