Satisfy your sweet tooth with these tasty spots

Are you a choco-holic? Do you crave sweets at all times of the day? If you have ever considered eating dessert before your main course then this article is for you.
We are fortunate in the 864 to have some killer desserts. No matter what your vice is, there are enough calories for you!
Main Street in downtown Greenville just got a major, new dosage of sugar with the opening of River Street Sweets. You can smell the pralines from the street. River Street Sweets started with their love of fudge, so you can definitely get your fix of plenty of flavors in their cases.
The chain started in Savannah (River Street) and now have locations in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, Nashville and Maryland. River Street has everything: toffee, fudge, candy apples, rice crispy treats, ice cream, and so much more.
The friendly staff offers samples to give you a taste to whet your appetite. River Street Sweets is located at 12 S. Main Street in Downtown Greenville.
Does your mind say gym but your body says donuts? Same. You will love Downtown Deli & Donuts in Spartanburg. Located in the Bijou building, the quaint family-owned shop offers breakfast and lunch daily. Everything on the menu is delicious but if you are wanting all the sweets, they have you covered.
One of my favorite donuts they make is this fruity pebbles donut—my childhood cereal nostalgia is in overflowing! The donut flavors are constantly changing, so be sure to follow them on social media to keep up with the specials. Heads Up: They close at 3pm each day.Downtown Deli and Donuts is located at 147 E. Main Street Spartanburg. Be sure to build in time to explore some of the other local businesses in the Bijou building including The Black Derby Barber Co., a nail salon, Hub City Scoops, The Urban Planter, and a gift shop called “Good Karma,” where all of the products sold have a charitable impact.
Let’s drive over to the trendy Greenville area known as “The Village.” The arts district is the home to all the hipster shops you could imagine. There is always something delicious on the menu at GB&D (*brunch approved*) Get your green thumb on at Savereign boutique plant shop.
Amp up your style with Rocker Belles. Get coffee at The Village Grind.
Take a trip back to your childhood at Carol’s Ice Cream. The liquid nitrogren ice cream craze has hit the upstate with this fabulous spot. Carol’s is named in honor of the owner’s grandmother and recreates that feeling of going to grandma’s house for a big bowl and games around the kitchen table.
The restaurant has tons of games that you are encouraged to play as you wait for your food. You can watch the liquid nitrogen process and learn more about it with the scientific analysis on display on the wall behind the counter.
I decided on the donut ice cream sandwich (a GB&D donut) filled with vanilla custard, lavender, sprinkles, and caramel glaze. You can customize all of your orders and there is no limit as to what you can come up with. Carol’s serves breakfast on Saturdays and hosts chili night on Wednesday. Visit them at 1260 Pendleton Street, Greenville
Let’s finish up with one dish that gives you everything you need. The sampler at Encore Gastrolounge in the West End of Greenville is to live for.
Encore has plenty of dinner options, but the desserts are the perfect encore to a night out to enjoy the culinary scene. The “heavenly sampler” features the bananarama, ode to ferrero roche, apple right side up,and turtle chocolate cheesecake.
These places are just the icing on the massive cake of dessert offerings in the upstate. These are just some of the places that I have recently visited and thought I would share. As always, feel free to send me any foodie suggests on Instagram @jamarcusgastontv
