Penske Touch-A-Truck set to roll Saturday, June 1, in downtown Greenville

Upstate children can sit in the driver’s seat at the annual Penske Touch-A-Truck day set for this Saturday, June 1, from 8 a.m. to Noon in downtown Greenville. During the event, children can climb on, learn about and discover their favorite big trucks and vehicles on display at the TD Saturday Market.

The free event will feature 20 different vehicles, including large trucks and heavy equipment from the City of Greenville Police, Fire, Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments and other various commercial company vehicles.

While the children are playing at the event, adults are invited to stroll through the market. Along with offering fresh produce each week, the market has free interactive activities at the Lowes Foods Front Porch, including live acoustic music, and culinary demonstrations by local chefs and farmers. The area also features Booth with a Cause for nonprofits and a Youth Booth, which provides young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to showcase and sell their work to market shoppers.

Lowes Front Porch also features Spuds & Sprouts presented by Prisma Health, a season-long children’s program aimed at teaching kids about locally grown foods and giving them the opportunity to try new fruits and vegetables.

Spuds & Sprouts features one activity each week. Some activities give children the opportunity to taste a different market item — some familiar and some unusual. In addition to tasting, kids will learn how the item is grown, why it is good for them and receive recipes for how to cook the item at home. Other activities will feature educational programming, focused on fruits and vegetables and healthy living.

Recognized as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast, the TD Saturday Market presented by Prisma Health is open Saturdays, May 4 through October 26 (excluding October 12), from 8 a.m. to Noon on Main Street at McBee Avenue.
