Go to a Lake Resort that is only a 2 hour drive – not even kidding. This is Heather and I went to Lake Lanier Islands Resort in Georgia. Cool lodge, and an even cooler waterpark that has you using waterslides into the lake – ziplines over the lake and movies in the lake. At the lodge you can rent a golf cart and go all over the island. The lodge has a salt water pool – two restaurants and movies at the pool. If you have older kids and are ready to spend a little more you can go horseback riding or rent a boat. The grounds are beautiful and my kids did not pick up their electronics ONCE! THAT IS A WIN!
You can go to the Water Park without staying at the resort.

Whether you are looking for the coolest lakeside spot for day play and nightlife, a sandy area to bask in the sun, or a place to let loose and let your inner child out, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands has it all.
At the Family Fun Park, enjoy Wild Waves, the South’s largest wave pool, as well as Raging River, carnival rides and TAD’S Lakeside Grille. A short walk through the tunnel takes you from the Family Fun Park to Big Beach, home of the largest collection of rides, slides and dining options at Margaritaville. Across the sand and over the Boardwalk, lies Sunset Cove, THE spot on Lake Lanier for music, entertainment, dining & nightlife!

Lake Lanier Islands Beach Waterpark has numerous attractions for kids, including:
- 11 water slides
- Georgia’s largest wave pool
- FunDunker, a water attraction equipped with more than 100 ways to get wet.
- Kiddie lagoon, complete with age-appropriate waterslides
- Wiggle Waves, a kid-sized wave pool.
Margaritaville at Lake Lanier Islands is not as big as Disney World or as exotic as the Hawaiian island of Kauai, but it’ll do on a hot summer day when the kids (or you) deserve a break.
Wild Waves combines the serenity of tubing with the adventure of safely bouncing around on the high seas.
Enjoy a family friendly movie on a 200-foot screen while you soak your troubles away at Dive-In Movie Night at Wild Waves! Don’t have any kids to share this paradise with? Ask your friends and family if they’ll share theirs. They’ll not only agree, they’ll probably give you gas money.
Too tame? Give Raging River’s rapids a shot. Safer and closer than the Grand Canyon, but just as much fun.
