Ham & swiss cheese potato gratin recipe

Shopping List

  • 6 Medium Sized Potatoes
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup AP Flour
  • 4 Cups Whole Milk
  • 2 Tsp Granulated Chicken Bullion
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon Mustard
  • ¾# Swiss cheese Grated
  • ½# Sliced Deli Ham
  • Spinach


  1. Wash potatoes. Place in pot and cover with cold water. Heavily salt water. Cook Potatoes until fork tender. Allow to cool.

For the Sauce:

  1. Heat milk to a scald. In second pan melt butter. Add flour and cook until flour is toasted & nutty in smell. Add flour & butter to hot milk. Continue to cook for 8-10 minutes over medium heat. When the sauce is thickened, add chicken bullion, cheese & mustard.

Assemble Gratin

  1. Thinly slice potatoes. Arrange in oven proof dish. Top potatoes with ham, spinach & cheese sauce. Continue to layer until all ingredients are used. Cover with foil. Bake in 350◦ oven for 30 minutes or until hot & bubbly. Uncover gratin 7 allow to brown for last 5 minutes.
