Ghost walks through downtown Greer

GREER, SC (WSPA) – In the spirit of Halloween, the Greer Heritage Museum is offering “Greer Ghost Walks” through October 30th.

Starting at the train depot on Randall Street, the quarter-mile walking tours combine town history and ghost stories that have been passed down for generations.

Some of the stories date back to the late 1800s, when Greer was founded. Others are still in the works, like the ghost “Victoria,” known affectionately as “Vera” who locals say still haunts the coffee shop “Stomping Grounds.”

“A lot of people will come in here just because they’ve heard through word of mouth that we have a ghost here,” Stomping Grounds owner Lisa Garland says. “It’s fun to talk to them about it and show them some of the things that happen when they’re here.”

The Greer Ghost Walks kicked off Tuesday, October 23rd. There are more tours on October 25th and 30th at 5:30 and 7:00 PM.

Admission is $5 per person, ages 9 and up (children under age 9 are free). Walks will be canceled in event of rain, and proceeds benefit the Greer Heritage Museum and Greer Station Merchants Association.
