Flower festivals fill Upstate’s June calendar
No matter the season, you’re likely to find something in bloom in South Carolina. This month, flowers are in colorful fashion across the Upstate with the South Carolina Festival of Flowers in Greenwood and the South Carolina Sunflower Festival in Anderson.
The first-ever Sunflower Festival to be held at Denver Downs Farm will feature 12 acres of sunflowers, including exotic varieties that many people likely have never seen, according to Denver Downs Co-owner and Special Event Director Catherine Garrison Davis.
“Our family has always loved flowers and we look for ways to add them to our events,” Davis said. “In talking with other farmers and being part of the National Sunflower Association, we decided to host an annual Sunflower event. We are expecting flower enthusiasts, photographers, and of course, families and friends to come out and enjoy this beautiful field and exciting time at our farm.”
Photographers are welcome and private sessions can be scheduled for times when the festival is not open to the public. Professional photographers can go HERE to complete an application.
