Experience mochi donuts, Korean hot dogs at Mochinut in Greer

GREER, S.C. – If you’re looking for a unique treat, Mochinut in Greer offers a variety of customizable and tasty options!

“We sell mochi donuts, Korean hot dogs and bubble tea. We are actually the first mochi donut shop to land in the Upstate. We opened last year on December 10, so it will be our one-year anniversary really soon,” owner Anthony Maboko. “We rotate our flavors every single week. We have six flavors that change. As far as the texture itself, it’s completely different than your big donut shops. They’re made out of Japanese rice flour, so they’re crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.”

You may be wondering what is a Korean hot dog?

“Just think of kind of like a corn dog but 10 times better,” Maboko explained. “On the inside, you can do all beef, all mozzarella, or half and half, which is cheese on the top and beef on the bottom. On the outside, you can do all of these cool flavors, like hot Cheetos, Takis, ramen, cereal, we have a Mexican street corn one. We have a ton of flavors.”

We tried a all-beef Mexican street corn Korean hot dog, a half-and-half with potatoes on the outside, and a half-and-half with a sugar coating. They were delicious!

Mochinut also makes and seals their bubble teas in the shop. You can pick your favor and customize the drink to your liking.

“It’s kind of like a Taiwanese drink. It’s made out of black tea with different flavors. We have Thai tea, milk tea, brown sugar, ube, matcha, and more. On the inside, you can do tapioca pearls, or popping boba, and then you have the milk tea base on top. We have a soda can machine sealer in the back, so it comes in a cool soda can. Everything is made fresh in-house, put into the soda cans and seal it up,” Maboko explained.

Mochinut just launched a new $20 lunch deal, which includes three mochi donuts, two Korean hot dogs and a bubble tea. You can take advantage of the special Monday through Friday from noon until 2 p.m.
