Cooper Standard in Spartanburg has more than 50 immediate job openings

As many U.S. manufacturers deal with supply chain disruptions and other issues related to COVID-19, Cooper Standard in Spartanburg is looking to immediately hire more than 50 associates at its automotive component manufacturing facility on Quality Way.
Cooper Standard has grown from a workforce of 200 a decade ago to more than 600 today, according to HR Manager Warren Snead. The company hired more than 300 associates in 2019 and has immediate openings for more than 50.
Headquartered in Northville, MI, Cooper Standard is a leading global supplier of systems and components for the automotive industry. Products include sealing, fuel and brake delivery and fluid transfer systems. The company has approximately 24,000 associates globally and operates in 21 countries. It was named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2020 by Ethisphere.
Cooper Standard’s Spartanburg location is a high-tech manufacturing facility that produces ceiling systems for the automotive industry.
“Our product holds the glass in the GM trucks, the Ford Explorer and the Dodge Ram,” Snead said. “Ours is a high-volume business. It’s very clean and safe, and we’ve implemented the highest technology to see to it that we prevent COVID-19 from entering our facility.”
Cooper Standard has looked heavily to the veteran community to fill positions, hiring more than 70 veterans in the past.
“We get great results from veterans,” Snead said. “They’re already, literally, battle-tested and they come into the plant mission oriented and ready to go.”
The company also is a good place for young people coming out of high school to build a career, and take advantage of competitive wages, 401K contributions and a free on-site medical clinic in partnership with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
“You could come to the plant with high blood pressure and leave with a prescription to mitigate that, so that adds to the quality of life for our employees” Snead said. “It actually reduces our healthcare costs and at the end of the day, it’s good for everybody.”
