City of Greer to celebrate annual Freedom Blast

GREER, SC – The City of Greer’s annual tribute to military veterans and active-duty personnel returns to Greer City Park on June 24, 2023 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Freedom Blast was first held in 2009 as a way for the community to thank current and past service members. The celebration will welcome Ryan Abel and Friends as the headline band. The evening will kick off with patriotic music by the Greenspan Big Band and skydivers from the veteran-operated Fastrax Performance Team.

Veterans are invited to gather near the City Park Fountain before 6:30 p.m. to participate in the popular Veterans Walk to the Main Stage as part of the event’s Military Tribute. Freedom Blast concludes with one of the largest fireworks shows in South Carolina.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy inflatables and rides for children, more than 25 vendor booths with food and beverages, a display of military vehicles, service organization tents on the promenade, roaming characters including Uncle Sam and Sarge the Eagle, and the Texas Roadhouse Rib Eating Contest. The Blood Connection will also be on site to help fill the summer demand for blood at local hospitals.
