Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Race for the Green in Seneca

Grab your running shoes and head to Seneca, SC for the city’s 11th Annual Race for the Green 5k and Half Marathon on Saturday, March 12.

Set in downtown Seneca, Race for the Green also features a pre-race costume contest for the best St. Patrick’s Day themed attire sponsored by Julian Davis Allstate Agency and a pre-race prize giveaway of a silver four-leaf clover bracelet from Bradley’s Jewelers.

Medals are awarded to the top finishers in each race, with the top three finishers in each race receiving cash prices.

“This race is known for the swag,” said Riley Johnson, events coordinator for the City of Seneca. “People come for the medals.”

New this year is a Kid’s Free Fun Run for those ages 12 and under, with young participants receiving a medal. The Kids Fun Run begins at 8 a.m., followed by the 5k at 8:15 a.m. and the Half Marathon at 8:20 a.m.

After the race, participants can enjoy complimentary beer and wine from 313 Café. The restaurant also will serve Green Eggs and Ham before and after the race, Johnson said.
