Carolina Eats Kid-Friendly Recipes – Krispy Pumpkin Treat

Sue Thomas shared her “Krispy Pumpkin Treat” recipe for the Carolina Eats Kid-Friendly Recipes contest.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons salted butter
10 ounce bag marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
4 to 7 drops orange food coloring
1 bag of Tootsie Rolls
For the leaf icing:
1/2 cup salted butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 drops green food coloring
Directions:
Melt 3 tablespoons butter and marshmallows over low heat.
Once combined, pull off heat and add orange food coloring.
Mix in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal.
Butter your hands and shape the mixture in to balls. Place the balls on waxed paper.
Let cool for 3 minutes then stick Tootsie Rolls in the center of each ball to make the pumpkin’s stem.
Mix icing ingredients together and add to piping bag. Use leaf tip on each side of Tootsie Roll.
Enjoy!
Thomas said these are the “perfect treat for the kiddos with Fall coming and Halloween around the corner.”
