Better Business Bureau® (BBB) Upstate South Carolina & AARP® South Carolina are partnering to host four free Secure Your ID “Shred Days”, a national event created to raise awareness about identity theft and fraud.
These free shred events will be held at the following times and locations:
- Tuesday, April 5, 9 am-12 pm
Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 502 S. Daniel Morgan Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29306 - Friday, April 22, 9 am-12 pm
Heritage Park, 861 S.E. Main Street, Simpsonville, SC 29680 - Wednesday, May 18, 9 am-12 pm
Greenville Convention Center, 1 Exposition Drive (Eisenhower Drive parking lot), Greenville, SC 29607 - Tuesday, May 24, 10 am- 1pm
Anderson Mall, 3331 N. Main Street (back entrance off Martin Luther King Blvd.), Anderson, SC 29621
The complimentary shred event is first come, first served or until the shred trucks fill up, so coming early is advised. Due to safety concerns, consumers will not be permitted to get out of their vehicle. Volunteers will be available onsite to remove shredding from vehicle.
The public also can take advantage of free on-site document shredding and will take home practical tips to prevent identity theft. Consumers are allowed to bring three small size banker boxes or three plastic 13-gallon kitchen size bags of documents for shredding.
To shred your sensitive documents in a timely manner, there is no need to remove binders, binder clips, paper clips, staples, rubber bands or CDs/DVDs prior to shredding.
New this year, individuals 50 years of age or older may register to win one of four $100 shredders. Visit AARP South Carolina website: aarp.cventevents.com/71G83Q. Sweepstakes takes place between April 1, 9:00 a.m. EST zone and May 31, 2022, 9:00 a.m. EST zone.
