Anderson Sings virtual singing competition heats up
It’s like March Madness, but in the fall and with singers.
Anderson Sings, Anderson County’s first-ever virtual singing competition, is underway with a single elimination bracketed competition featuring head-to-head matchups each week until a winner is selected.
The winner of Anderson Sings will be the artist that receives the highest number of online votes. And every vote equals one dollar that will go to meet basic needs in Anderson County such as food, housing and utilities, according to Alison Youngblood, Campaign Chair for United Way of Anderson County.
“United Way supports 26 different agencies in Anderson,” Youngblood said. “Not only are we promoting the talent of these awesome singers and giving them a chance to shine, but the money is coming back into Anderson County and stays here to support basic needs”
Presented by The Peoples Bank and sponsored by Anderson Mall and Foothills Property Management, Anderson Sings wraps up round two this week, with winners advancing to the third of five rounds.
“We are getting farther into the competition and it’s very much like a March Madness bracket,” Youngblood said. “So, head-to-head and the one who gets the most votes advances to the next round.”
Two finalists will battle it out for the competition’s grand prize package that includes that includes $1,000 cash, performances at Celebrate Anderson 2021 and on WSPA’s Your Carolina show, and the chance to record a track at the legendary Capricorn Studios in Macon, GA.
