Anderson offers a fresh take on annual Fresh Taste event

Fresh Taste, the City of Anderson’s annual spotlight on downtown farm-to-table dining, will have a new look this year as the event moves from Carolina Wren Park to a weeklong tasting at individual restaurants.
A creative solution in light of today’s coronavirus pandemic, a Fresh Take on Fresh Taste kicked off on Monday and continues through Saturday, October 17. Attendees can experience the event in the comfort of their favorite downtown restaurant or at home by placing a Fresh Taste order to-go.
“We are excited to do a Fresh Take on Fresh Taste this year to keep our community healthy and safe while still supporting local farms and restaurants,” said Caroline Gaddis, Business Education and Event Manager for the City of Anderson.
Participating restaurants have partnered with eight local farms to offer a Fresh Taste dish on their menus all week long, Gaddis explained. When dining in or ordering to-go, diners should ask for the Fresh Taste dish. At the end of the week, tasters can vote for their favorite dish on a survey posted on the downtown Anderson Facebook page.
First, second and third place winners will receive a cash prize. The first-place finisher also will take home the famous “fork” trophy and the title of 2020 Fresh Taste Winner.
Downtown Anderson restaurants participating in 2020 Fresh Taste are:
- Carolina Bauernhaus Brewery & Winery
- Doolittle’s
- Earle Street Kitchen and Bar

- Groucho’s Deli
- The Uptown
- MaKi Sushi Bar & Bistro
- Mr. Rivers Breakfast Joint
- Shucks Oyster Bar and Restaurant
